Sitting Up!

Our Owen is sitting up! He started sitting up right on the weekend of his 5 month birthday!
Violet likes to read her brother books too!

Harvest Time = Farm Time

We have had some fun farm weekends these past few weeks. The weather has been awesome and relatively mild.

First we went to an apple farm out in Potomac, MD.

Another weekend we visited Cox Farm out in Virgina. It was more like a carnival! Violet had a blast with her friends going down big slides, taking a hay ride, and dancing to a Blue Grass band. They had face painting and lots of free apple cider and lots of farm animals to pet!

Pop Pop's Birthday

We celebrated my dad's Birthday with him last month, September 30th. We are so thankful for my dad! He is a wonderful pop pop and loves all his grandkids so much:) He not only spoils them, but he also takes care of them for us too and really enjoys it! Last weekend he watched both Violet and Owen all by himself for several hours and is up to do it again, so it must have gone well! And Violet absolutely loves her Pop pop and asks me about him all the time! Especially now that he taught her the song, "following the leader" and found it on youtube and sent it to her on my e-mail. She is constantly asking me when I am on the computer if she can watch Pop Pop's video.

Owen's First Cereal

Our first attempt at giving Owen his first taste of yummy rice cereal was not quite the success we were hoping for! And we've even offered him cereal with applesauce mixed in and out of desperation for him to want to eat straight up applesauce. But no! Our boy is quite stubborn! He purses his lips together and pulls his head away when he realizes we are trying to get him to eat something. We were trying to get him to eat a little cereal at night to help him sleep better thru the night. His pediatrician tells me to keep trying and that he doesn't really need anything until he is 6 months. Owen has also decided that he wants nothing to do with the bottle either:( He was taking it so well, and then just out of the blue, or it could be that his little personality is getting stronger, he purses his lips out and has a fit whenever someone tries to give him a bottle. I think it is his way to make sure he gets good quality time with mommy since I'm so busy with Violet during the day too:)

Violet needed a turn in the bumbo seat too!

Owen at 4 Months!

Wow! How the time flies! We took Owen in for his 4 month check up and he weighed in at 17lbs 6oz and measured 26 1/4 inches long! He is in the 85th percentile for both weight and height. Thank you all for your prayers for Owen's heart as well. The cardiologist said that the left ventricle is still enlarged so is increasing his medicine. At the end of this month we take him back to check things out and if it is still as large as it is now then we will discuss surgery with the doctor. We believe that God can heal our little man and will keep praying for his touch on Owen!

I think it is finally time to move to my crib:)

Capitol Girl

I took Violet and Owen to try to get a few photos of them in front of the Capitol. Owen didn't cooperate so great, but as you can see Vi had a blast playing in the fountains! I was waiting for the Capitol police to kick us out especially since I couldn't keep her out of the water, but no one seemed to mind:)

Also, the dress Violet is wearing is the first dress that my mom ever smocked for me when I was Violets age. It is so awesome that she kept it in such great shape all these years and that I have such a talented mother! I hope to give this to Violet's daughter one day!
