A1:8 Summer Small Group

Our church did a summer series called A1:8. It was based on the idea that we should be taking care of our neighbors and building community with them. Each group planned a different project to serve and reach out to the people living around us.

My group, the moms group, did a diaper drive to benefit Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center. We decided to come up with a goal and after much deliberation came up with 5,000! Quite a big number and I really did think we were reaching a bit with this, but figured what the heck! So, we asked friends, family, neighbors, posted on freecycle and other listserves, and collected at all of our church locations. This week ended the study and we turned in all our diapers to the center. The total was 5,184 diapers!! Wow, that is a lot of little tushies that are going to be covered:)
Brandon and Havilah did a small group on H St for where we live. Their group decided to make pies to take to elderly people in the neighborhood. Violet got to help them too:) It was so fun to see her get to take part in building community with those around us too!
